The plan for today is just a short 2 hour ride south to Idaho Falls to drop Estela off at the “Dirty Dog Bus Station” so she can go back to San Francisco. I am impressed she stuck it out this long, she wasn’t really too excited about the cold weather and camping aspect. As I was doing my final packing my dad came in and gave me several pounds of Idaho’s finest beef jerkey. When one is packing for a trip around the world on a motorcycle you have limited space in which to put your belongings, so you have to prioritize what to bring. So here I was with a decision to make several lbs of tasty peppered meat or clothes, well as any intelligent man would do I had to leave some clothes behind to make room for my new found loot. So once I got the bike all packed we set out for Idaho Falls.

About 4 miles outside of Mackay I am proceeding along at a nice pace of 81 mph in a 65 mph zone, slow by California standards. As I look at this pick-up coming at me I notice a blue light bar on top of the truck, I think to myself that cant be a cop. Well I was wrong so as he passed me and turned his lights on I notice a nice “Custer County Sheriff” logo on the side of the Dodge truck. By the time he turned around and caught up to me I had pulled over and taken my helmet off. As he got out of the truck he glanced at my license plate and said with a smirk “From California, Huh!” I could tell there was no getting out of this one, he could have easily said “What do I got here but a speeding city slicker” yep no getting out of this one. Well as he was about to hand me the ticket he started into a dialogue that informed me if I was only going 3 mph slower I would have got off with a warning (yeah like I believe that) and he even went on to inform me that these motorcycle things are really safe and he even let me know that he picks people like me up off the freeway all the time. So after I signed my ticket and promised to pay Custer County a whopping $53 I was finally on my way to Idaho Falls. Once in Idaho Falls I met up with the parents and had a nice dinner with really bad service. Once my parents left I dropped Estala off at the Greyhound bus station, I really have to admit those places are really bad and was quite thankful I didn’t have to ride it. Well with our goodbye’s said she was off to San Francisco and I was back to my journey.
